Insulation and air sealing can be difficult in a Cape Cod-style constructed house. This unique construction produces problems with heat transfer from the roof to the rooms inside.

The knee wall framing usually has built-in bookshelves, drawers or closets. This unique knee wall sits atop the first floor ceiling joists, meaning that interior air is usually flowing under the knee wall. The tops of the knee walls usually aren’t sealed. These spaces need to be sealed in order to effectively stop air filtration.
